PURPOSE:To surely seal a water leakage preventing section, by providing a fiber section on the outer surface of a long base member, and as well by disposing a water leakage preventing material which is formed on the outer surface thereof with an evaporatable surface treatment layer, in the bottom section of a fitting groove at an edge of a required section. CONSTITUTION:The peripheral edge 6a of a flange 6 formed along an opening 8 in a vehicle body, is fitted in a fitting groove 9 formed in a welt section 1 constituting a weather strip W. In this case a water leakage preventing material 10 is disposed in the bottom section of the fitting groove 9. Further, the material 10 is provided on the outer surface of a base member 11 thereof with planted bristles 12a constituting a fiber section 12 by means of an adhesive layer 11a, and as well as evaporatable surface treatment layer 13 is formed on the outer surface of each bristle 12a. With this arrangement, when the flange 2 is fitted in the fitting groove 9, the material 10 may be closely contacted to the top end of the flange 6 and the bottom section of the groove 9 with a predetermined resilient force, and therefore, the gap between the flange 6 and the welt section 1 may be surely sealed. |
