The invention relates to a word synchronisation method for extracting the additional information words from a master signal which, combined with another master signal, is transmitted as a secondary signal. A clock pulse sequence is extracted in the receiving station via the frame identifier. The word synchronisation is carried out according to the invention by means of the following steps: a) a first and a second clock pulse sequence are created from the clock pulse sequence, b) a padding bit and a bit are extracted from the master signal and fed to an evaluation circuit, the padding bit in most cases being set to a logic >>0<< and the bit always being set to a logic >>1<<, c) the bits are added together separately in the evaluation circuit up to a predefined number and d) depending on which bit reaches this number, the first or the second clock pulse sequence is transmitted. <IMAGE>
