PURPOSE:To sort and contain printing plates by reading the size of said printing plate and the pin holes for register pins and judging the type of said printing plate. CONSTITUTION:A printing plate 12 the treatment of which is completed by a treating line 10, is sent to a reading means 14 to read its size and pin holes, and is further sent to a sorting means 16. Signals for the size, pin hole positions, etc. of the printing plate 12 which are read by the reading means 14, are sent to a collating and operating means 18, which collates the read size and pin holes of the printing plate with previously registered sizes and pin holes of various printing plates, to judge the type of the printing plate. The collating and operating means 18 also controls a sorting means 16 in accordance with the judged type of the printing plate, to sort and contain the printing plate.
