The invention relates to a glue-coating device for a labelling machine, with a glue roller 1 having especially an elastic casing. So that such labels building up on the glue scraper 6 do not heat the sensitive surface of the glue roller 1 excessively and lead by abrasion to a premature wear of the glue roller, the surface of the glue roller 1 is designed as a friction surface. Labels which build up are rubbed away more or less quickly by this friction surface. The heating otherwise occurring and the associated premature wear of the glue roller 1 are thereby avoided. <IMAGE>
