PURPOSE:To obtain a color photographic sensitive material superior in color reproductivity without deteriorating sensitivity by forming an emulsion layer prepared by adding a specified magenta coupler and a spectral sensitizing dye before completing the formation of silver halide grains. CONSTITUTION:A silver halide photosensitive material contains a pyrazoloazole type magenta coupler represented by the formula shown on the right in which R<1> is H or a substituent; X is a group to be released by the coupling reaction with the oxidation product of a color developing agent; Za, Zb, Zc are each optionally substd. methine, =N-, -NH-, and one of Za-Zb and Zb-Zc is a double bond, and the other is a single bond, and when the Zb-Zc bond is a double bond, this bond may be a part of an aromatic ring; R<1> and X may form a dimer or other oligomers, and when Za, Zb, Zc are optionally substd. methines, they may form an oligomer. The photosensitive material contg. this coupler is improved in light absorption characteristics and superior in color reproductivity, and it can form a fast image.
