PURPOSE:To obtain the converter using a high-speed AD converter with low resolution and utilizing the advantage of its high speed to improve the resolution by providing a level shift circuit, a parallel conversion AD converter, a high- order converting means and a selector of each specific design. CONSTITUTION:One analog signal is separated into plural analog signals having different DC levels by plural level shift circuits 2-5. Each analog signal is subjected to AD conversion by parallel AD converters (ADC) 10-13, and high- order AD conversion data is obtained from a high-order converting means 15 by using the AD conversion data to discriminate whether the ADC is in scale-out or not. Then low-order AD conversion data is obtained by using a selector 16 to change over output lines of the ADC 10-13. Thus, the converter with high resolution, high speed, compactness and low cost is attained.
