PURPOSE:To form the copied image to be transferred from a photosensitive body onto paper as the image having good quality by roughening the surface of a developer carrying body perpendicularly with the conveying direction of a developer so that the thin film of the developer conveyed to the photosensitive body by sticking onto the surface of a developing roll is formed to the uniform and stable state. CONSTITUTION:A controlling member is constituted of a support consisting of a spring member having >=95f/mm<2> tensile strength and >=68kgf/mm<2> yield strength and a soft elastic material consisting of the silicone rubber of which the surface energy in the part in contact with the developer carrying body is <=30dyne/cm and which has 30-70 deg. hardness. The surface of the developing roll 11 is roughened in the axial direction of the developing roll over the entire surface to Rz=7-12mum (1.0-1.6mum in terms of Ra) by a vertical polishing treatment. The surface of the surface-treated developing roll does not leave fingerprints even when touched by the fingertips and does not require special precaution in the stage of handling. |
