PURPOSE:A temperature-sensitive polymer emulsion whose transmittance sharply changes at a specified temperature, obtained by polymerizing an N-substituted (meth)acrylonitrile derivative which can from a homopolymer having a cloud point with a copolymerizable unsaturated monomer. CONSTITUTION:5-50pts.wt. N-substituted (meth)acrylamide derivative which can form a homopolymer having a cloud point (e.g., N-acryloylpyrrolidone or N-ethylacrylamide) (A) is copolymerized with 95-50pts.wt. unsaturated double bond-containing monomer (B) copolymerizable therewith (e.g., N-n- hexylacrylamide or N,N-diglycidylacrylamide) in the presence of a polymerization initiator, a surfactant, etc. In this way, the purpose temperature-sensitive polymer emulsion whose transmittance increases at a temperature above a specified temperature and decreases at a temperature below this temperature can be obtained. This temperature-sensitive polymer emulsion can be suitabley used as a temperature sensor.
