PURPOSE:To effectively recover heat of a coke oven gas and remove deposits accumulated on the inner wall of heat exchanging chambers and pipings, by consecutively passing a coke oven gas through a plurality of carbonizing chambers and a plurality of heat exchanging chambers. CONSTITUTION:It is assumed, for example, that four carbonizing chambers 30a-30d out of five carbonizing chambers 30a, 30b, 30c, 30d and 30e is in carbon ization of a coal while 30e is in the preparation of discharge of a coke. In this case, a coke oven gas generated from the carbonizing chambers which are in carbonization is passed through n-off valves 32a-32d and piping 31a-31d and led to a coke oven gas suction pipe 35. The coke oven gas is then passed through pipings 38a,38b on-off valves 39a,39b and pipings 4a,4b and fed into air stream heating pipes 5a,5b for heat recovery. High-temp. gas staying in the inside of the chamber 30e which is in the preparation of discharge of a coke is passed through an on-off valve 34e and a piping 33e and led into a pipe 36 for feeding a gas for decoking. The high-temp. gas is consecutively passed through an on-off valve 39c and pipings 37c,4c and fed into an air stream heating pipe 5c for use in decoking for heat exchanging chambers etc.
