PURPOSE:To attain natural fade out operation by specifying a voltage level to a prescribed level at the end of fade-out operation. CONSTITUTION:An image pickup output from an image pickup tube (not shown) is inputted to a gain control circuit 2 via a camera process circuit 1 and outputted as a video output B. A fade control voltage A from a fade signal control circuit 3 is fed to the gain control circuit 2, the video level is changed in response to the level of the voltage A to apply fade operation. Further, a pedestal setting circuit 4 sets the black level of a gain control circuit 2 to zero potential. Then the voltage level of the video output at picture erasure is set to a prescribed potential so as to attain natural fade-out operation.
