PURPOSE:To attain high resolution by providing a spectral means for forming an optical image of an object onto two solid-state image pickup devices respectively and shifting the relative position of the element chips of the two solid- state image pickup devices mutually. CONSTITUTION:Incident light from a lens 1 is made incident from the aperture for the incident light formed in the shape of box on the box and the incident light transmitted through or reflected in a half mirror 2 is formed on the solid- state image pickup devices 3, 4 fitted to the box. Further, the relative position of the two solid-state image pickup elements 3, 4 is shifted mutually so that the own picture element is placed on the gap between the other solid-state image pickup device element chips 41 and 31. That is, the two element chips 31, 41 are shifted as shown in solid lines and dotted lines as a whole.
