PURPOSE:To prevent the seizure between a molding of rare earth element-contg. powder and base plate and to obtain a magnet consisting of rare earth element having good dimensional accuracy by sintering the molding at the temp. slightly lower than the final sintering temp. then sintering the molding at the final temp. in the stage of sintering the above-mentioned molding on the base plate. CONSTITUTION:The powder contg. the rare earth element is molded under pressure in a magnetic field. Such molding is sintered on the base plate by which the molding to be made into the magnet consisting of rare earth element is obtd. The molding is subjected to preliminarily sintering to some extent at 1,140-1,200 deg.C lower by 20-50 deg.C than the final sintering temp. and is then sintered at the final temp. of 1,190-1,220 deg.C. The molding is preferably sandwiched by the base plate and press plate in the stage of sintering. Even if the molding is a thin sheet, the seizure of the molding to the base plate and the press plate is obviated and the sintering with a good yield is made possible.
