Method for mfg. an impermeable slide fastener having its stringers overlain by sealing layers which abut edgewise when the fastener is closed includes forming the stringer tapes in tegegrally and with a thin interconnecting web, the coupling element rows confronting one another without being interengaged. A resiliently deformable sealing layer is then applied over the tapes on the opposite surface to the coupling element rows, and both the layer and the tapes interconnecting web are cut apart between the rows, specifically by a single slit or by spaced slits gapping.
