The present invention relates to a multi-directional safety device for robots and manipulators. Device, characterised in that it is mounted between the arm 4 of the manipulator or robot and the gripper 5, and in that it essentially consists of at least one linking means 1 which can be immobilised between them, under a given pressure and at a predetermined distance, the mounting plates 2 and 3 securely fastened to the arm 4 and to the gripper 5, and of at least one means 6 for triggering the safety means instantaneously stopping the movement of the arm 4 in the event of the gripper 5 or the device encountering an unexpected obstacle. <IMAGE>
