An insulator (1), preferably with cover (3), for receiving a heat-measuring device has an inner opening (2), into which the measuring device can be fitted. The insulator (1) with its cover (3) consists of an insulating plastic foam (4), for example of polystyrene foam. The inner opening (2) and the underside of the cover (3) are provided with a closed-cell covering of plastic, which is firmly bonded to the insulating foam (4). This can be carried out in particular by applying to the insulating foam (4) an epoxy-foam layer, which for its part has on the outside a closed epoxy skin (6). The epoxy skin (6) can bond well with the epoxy foam (5), whereas the latter in turn enters into a firm bond with the polystyrene foam (4), because it can penetrate partially into the pores of the latter. <IMAGE>
