In a circuit for monitoring insulation resistances in an electrical installation which is divided into a group of modules with a common earth-free power supply, a measuring device with a high-impedance input is used which conveys the measuring parameters to components connected downstream for processing, whence they are finally forwarded to an evaluation device. In order to be able to use low-cost components which can nevertheless withstand high overvoltages, a detector circuit is proposed which responds when a specific voltage is exceeded and, in this event, opens a switch which is connected upstream of the components of the measuring device.
