Process for applying thin, metallic protective layers

The process serves for applying thin, metallic protective layers of self-flowing Ni- or Co-based alloys to a base material by means of flame-spraying, the thin layer being sprayed "cold" onto the base material and then being fused on. In order to be able to apply protective layers of self-flowing alloys by means of flame-spraying in a thin layer without "droplet formation", a flux layer is applied to the thin layer after the "cold application" thereof and the thin layer is then bonded, partially or wholly in the molten state, to the surface of the base material.
