PURPOSE:To attain D/A conversion of an n-bit signal by means of a converter having the number of bits less than (n) bits, by dividing the n-bit digital signal into upper and lower parts and adding them to the analog signal which underwent the D/A conversion independently. CONSTITUTION:The 1st and 2nd sampling/holding circuits 3 and 6 sample and hold the analog signals applied to the input by the control signal applied from a control circuit 1. Thus the analog signal corresponding to an n-bit digital signal is outputted to the output of the circuit 6. Then the analog signals obtained later through D/A conversion of an l-bit D/A converter is multiplied by 2<-p> or 2<p> as the digital signals of upper (n-m) bits and lower (m) bits. This multiplied signal is added with the analog signal which is held previously after D/A conversion. Here n>l>=n/2 is satisfied together with p=m-x+y and (l-n+m)>=x<=0 and (l-m)>=y>=0 respectively. Thus the D/A conversion is possible with an n-bit digital signal.
