PURPOSE:To decrease deterioration of picture due to phase fluctuation of such as jitter, velocity error by multiplexing a color-difference signal and a luminance signal which are amplitude-modulated with carrier waves whose frequencies offset each other by a half of the horizontal scanning frequency and recording them in two neighboring recording tracks. CONSTITUTION:In the recording device to record chrominance signals, the color- difference signals B-Y and R-Y are respectively inputted to one input terminal of multipliers M1 and M2 for amplitude modulation. To the other terminal of input of the multiplier M1, a signal of frequency, f1=629kHz, for instance is inputted. Also, to the other terminal of the multiplier M2, a carrier wave signal of f2=f1+ or -H/2 which is to be the output of a multiplier M3 is inputted, where H is the horizontal scanning frequency. Next, these amplitude-modulated color-difference signals limited within the carrier wave band are added with two luminance signals Y1 and Y2 by adders a1 and a2, and are supplied to heads A1, B1 and A2, B2. The two luminance signals Y1 and Y2 are added to each other by the adders a1 and a2 using a signal obtained by offset sampling, and, resulting outputs are recorded simultaneously.
