PURPOSE:To make it possible to usefully use an ink donor film, by a method wherein the length of the ink coating region of a donor film in the longitudinal direction is selected so as to be made shorter than that of a recording image in the same direction and the recording image is divided in the longitudinal direction thereof to superpose the aforementioned devided recording images at every sections and the recording images of the sections are connected in the longitudinal direction to obtain a multicolor recording image to be calculated. CONSTITUTION:For example, when the length of recording paper 1 is set to 2Xl and the length of the ink coating region 41 of an ink donor film 4 to (l), recording images corresponding to three colors are superposed with respect to the first half of the recording paper 1 at first and recording images corresponding to three colors are subsequently superposed in the same way with respect to the latter half of the recording paper 1 to complete the recording image corresponding to one page of the recording paper 1. CPU divides the image signals stored in page buffers 21Y, 21M, 21C corresponding to the first half and latter half of the recording image and transmits image signals to a recording head in the order of the first half 21Y1 of yellow, the first half 21M1 of magenta and the first half 21C1 of cyan at the time of the recording of the first half 11 of the recording paper 1. |
