PURPOSE:To provide an instrument which is simple in construction and is decreased in a pressure drop to a smaller level and can measure the flow rate and viscosity of fluid by providing a float in a pipeline in which the fluid passes and providing a detector to the outside of the pipeline. CONSTITUTION:The float 10 in a pipe 2 contracts elastically a coil spring 15 by the force-feed pressure of the fluid and moves toward the down stream side shown by a chain line when the fluid is forcibly fed into the flow pipeline 1. An aperture 6 is then opened and the fluid flows through the spaces between projecting guide lines 8 around the float 10. More specifically, the float 10 moves toward the down stream side in compliance with the flow rate of the fluid and the position of a permanent magnet 17 sticking to the float 10 is changed by the extent of the movement of the float, by which the magnetic force to be exerted to a Hall element 18 is changed. The flow rate is detected by the change of the output voltage of the element 18. On the other hand, the extent of the movement of the float 10 is larger as the viscosity of the fluid is higher if the flow rate of the fluid is constant and therefore the measurement of the viscosity of the fluid is made possible by connecting a viscometer to the element 18 which detects the extent of the movement of the float 10.
