PURPOSE:To make it possible to automatically detect an abnormal in pulling a stentered film lug, by detecting rotational speeds on both sides of a clutch for driving a lug pulling drive roll to descriminate occurence of an abnormal when the difference between the detected rotational speeds exceeds a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:During drive of a drive roll 16 pulse sensors 13, 14 deliver pulse signals (a, b) in accordance with the rotational speeds of both driven sides of a clutch 6, to a counter 5 which integrates the pulse numbers of the pulse signals from the pulse sensors 13, 14 at predetermined intervals. The difference between the rotational speeds is computed in accordance with the thus integrated values A, B, that is, A-B=alpha1, is obtained. If the feed of a stentered film lug 20b due to the roll 16 is normal, the difference alpha1 is always maintained within a predetermined range. However if the feed of the stentered film lug 20b is abnormal, the difference A-B greatly varies. Accordingly, by setting suitable upper and lower limits, the difference between the pulse numbers exceeds the upper or lower limit when an abnormal occures, and therefore, the abnormal may be surely detected.
