PURPOSE:To improve a feeling of acceleration ever so better, by constituting a speed gear step of an automatic transmission so as to be shifted down in an engine load variation of more than the specified value when a car speed in a constant-speed state is increased, in case of a device, bearing the above caption, for an automatic transmission type vehicle. CONSTITUTION:In the case where an engine load variation to be inputted out of an engine load variation detecting device B3, for example, a throttle valve opening variation is more than the specified value when an operating signal out of an accelerating device B1 speeding up a car speed in a constant-speed driving state or a resetting device B2 resetting a car speed to that before release after releasing the constant-speed gear step of an automatic transmission shift down. With this constitution, the car speed is sufficiently accelerable all the time without any time lag at acceleration and, what is more, an accelerating feeling is improvable.
