PURPOSE:To contrive stabilization of high speed property, printing quality and image quality, by providing a thermal transfer ink layer on an aromatic polyamide film comprising a constituent of general formula [I], a specified coefficient of heat shrinkage, a specified rate of moisture absorption and a thickness of 1-10mum. CONSTITUTION:A structural unit of general formula [I] must be contained in an amount of at least 50mol%. A comonomer component is not particularly limited, and may be terephthalic acid chloride or p-phenylenediamine. To lower the electrical resistance of the film or increase the thermal conductivity, it is particularly effective to add 1-40wt% of particulate carbon black or alumina. The rate of moisture absorption of the film is not lower than 4%, and the coefficient of heat shrinkage at 250 deg.C is not higher than 5%. A thermal transfer ink layer may be formed from any known thermal transfer ink, e.g., a heat- fusible ink or heat-sublimable ink. |
