PURPOSE:To enable a work to be machined with no trouble when the work is clamped tilting with respect to a table, by storing in memory the position of a reference point from a vertical distance of the reference point of the work from its each end surface and a tilt angle theta. CONSTITUTION:The positioning method, measuring distances a1, a2 from a wire 3 in two points separated in the direction of an X-axis by A in one end surface of a work W, obtains a tilt angle theta of the work. Next, the method, using said tilt angle theta, indexes XY coordinate values (X, Y) in a table coordinate system of a reference point P, given as a value (x0, y0) in a coordinate system of the work W itself, from measured value (B1, B2), (b1, b2) respectively of end surfaces neighboring at a right angle of the work W, and when the work W is electric discharge machined, the method, positioning the wire 3 to said reference point P (X, Y) starts electric discharge machining. |
