PURPOSE:To reduce COD, SS, chromatility, etc. of secondary treated water of night soil remarkably and simultaneously by adding powdery active carbon and an inorg. flocculant to secondary treated water of night soil, then separating solid from liquid using a drum type screen. CONSTITUTION:Powdery active carbon and an inorg. flocculant (e.g. poly AlCl3) to secondary treated water of night soil, then the solid in the water is separated from liquid with a drum type screen (e.g. microstrainer). As compared to conventional process using an inorg. and org. flocculant in combination, a drum type screen having higher efficiency such as microstrainer is useful in this process because stronger and more stable floc is formed by the effect of active carbon serving as seed. Furthermore, simultaneous improvement of COD, SS, chromatility, etc. is possible unlike conventional process using combination of an inorg. and org. flocculant. Accordingly, the installation cost, maintenance and administration cost, etc. are reduced. The installation area is reduced and the operation and administration technique are simplified.
