PURPOSE:To enhance the stability of steering operation with the use of a steering control device in which various kinds of steering ratio characteristics may be selected for determining a steering angle ratio between a rear wheel steering angle and a front wheel steering angle, by allowing the above-mentioned selection only during a vehicle being in its stopping condition or a substantially stopping condition. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a means 2 for determining a first steering angle ratio in relation to a vehicle speed detected by a vehicle speed sensor 1 in accordance with a characteristic which continuously varies so that the steering angle ratio becomes negative in a low vehicle speed range but becomes positive in a high speed vehicle speed range, and means 3 for determining a second steering angle ratio in accordance with a characteristic which is different from the former characteristic. The outputs of these determining means 2, 3 may be selected by a selection control means 4 through a condition maintaining means 9. Further, only when a brake depressing condition and a power transmission isolating condition are detected simultaneously by means of a first detection means 8 and a second detection means 9, a change-over control means 10 allows the condition holding means 5 to be changed over, thereby it is pos sible to select the steering angle ratio. |
