PURPOSE:To install only a single signal line, through which an output from a knock detecting part is transmitted, to save the signal line, by providing a means which actuates fail function when, under a given operating condition of the given operating condition, a knocking signal can be detected. CONSTITUTION:A knock detecting part 101 comprises an acceleration sensor 1, a frequency filter 2, a nozzle level detector 5, and a comparator 6. A block 104 detects an operation region where reference lead angle of an ignition timing is set in a knocking generating area. The fail state of a knock signal detecting system can be detected from the presence of detection of a knock signal under the given operating state of an engine. This enables an output from a knock detecting part to be transmitted through only a single signal line 1 to shorten the line. |
