The fan according to the invention comprises a peripheral ring 1 having an internal surface 4 which is shaped to form an outer wall of a centrifugal flow pipe 5; a casing for a motor 8 supported in the centre of the peripheral ring on radial arms 9, the casing comprising a front part 10 coplanar with the rim of the peripheral ring 1; an electric motor stator 13 located inside the casing; a rotor 16 mounted inside the stator 13; a centrifugal wheel 19 comprising a flange 20 fitted to the rotor perpendicularly to its axis and radial blades 22 one of whose edges, or the first edge, is fitted to the flange 20 and the other of whose edges, or second edge, extends close to the internal surface 4 of the peripheral ring 1. <IMAGE>
