The trolleycar control unit effects control of power drive, braking and forward and reverse drive in a shunt motor system. Current in the two armatures of a shunt motor drive unit connected to a power line via a pantograph is controlled by 1st and 2nd chopper units respectively in series with the armatures. Current in the corresponding field windings is controlled by a parallel bank os 3rd and 4th chopper devices. By on-off control of the chopper devices, armature current is controlled in different ways when asrmature voltage is lower than line voltage and when it is approximately equal to or higher than line voltage. |
