A telephone device (1) is indicated with a holding part (2) and an assigned handset (3). The special feature of the device (1) lies in a first permanent magnet (5) provided in the holding part (2) which is disposed in such a way that, when the handset (3) is laid on the holding part (2), it is located in the vicinity of the metal loudspeaker frame (7) provided in the handset (3). The device (1) is appropriately provided with a reed contact (8) in the holding part (2) and with a second permanent magnet (9) in the handset (3) which interacts with the reed contact (8). The device (1) offers the advantage that conventional mechanical parts that are subject to wear are eliminated, operational reliability is thereby increased and the operation of the device (1) is simplified (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
