RESTRAINING DEVICE FOR PIPE MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To permit easy cutting or welding of pipe material with high quality and high efficiency by moving upward and downward magnets to position the same on both sides of the center line of a pipe material and bringing a pair of the arms near to the pipe material so that the magnets attract and restrain the pipe material. CONSTITUTION:The magnets 12 are so disposed as to be kept suspended perpendicularly from the top ends of the arms 3. The cutting of the pipe 16 is executed by retracting the piston rods of tilting cylinders 5 when the uncut part attains the prescribed size slightly before the end of the cutting operation along a cutting line 17. A pair of the arms 3 installed on both sides of the pipe material 16 are raised and the magnets 12 are attracted to the material 16. The magnets 12 are deflected to both sides of the cutting line 17 where already the cutting is completed so as to be attracted to the material 16. The pipe materials 16 on both sides of the line 17 are attracted to the magnets 12 when the uncut part is cut. The cutting is thus completed without dropping of the pipes.
