PURPOSE:To improve the lubricity of rolling bearings which support the shaft ends of a roll and to prevent the generation of a contingent accident by sealing a lubricating agent having heat resisting durability into said bearings and sealing hermetically both sides between the inner and outer races of the bearings. CONSTITUTION:The rolling bearings 14 are built into the bearing boxes which support both shaft ends 12 of the roll 11 in a continuous casting installation. The lubricating agent such as grease having excellent heat resisting durability is sealed into the bearings 14. Both sides between the inner and outer races 14a and 14b of the bearings are hermetically sealed by the sealing bodies 10. Inside sealing mechanisms 15 of a double row piston ring type and outside sealing mechanisms 16 of a single oil seal type which seal between the roll shaft parts 12a, 12b and the bearing boxes 13 are provided in both inside and outside lateral positions of the bearings boxes 13 in the axial direction with respect to the bearings 14. The intrusion of water, scale, etc. from the sealing mechanism parts 15, 16 is thereby thoroughly shut off. |
