摘要 In choosing specific bearings with regard to the axial play, the users of axially loadable antifriction bearings of differing design have so far been dependent on manufacturers data, or have had (which is impossible, in practice), to disassemble the bearings and determine the axial play by measuring the individual parts and applying computational approaches. However, knowledge of the axial play is important in many designs in order to achieve an optimum service life of the machine as a whole. Consequently, I am proposing a measuring device and measurement method by means of which it is possible to determine the axial bearing clearance of different types of antifriction bearing in a simple and cost-effective way on the finished bearing. For this purpose, the outer ring of the bearing is fixed and the inner ring is subjected to a defined test force. The inner ring is then lightly touched by the sensor of a mobile, but fixable dial gauge (or other mechanical or electric measuring instrument). The test weight is removed from the inner ring and the inner ring is deflected upwards by a rocker which is subjected to a test force (likewise defined). The difference in the display between the two extreme positions is the axial bearing clearance. The measurement conditions are to be fixed in the interests of reproducibility and comparability of the measured values.
