The acceleration pick-up is to be particularly suitable for signals in a frequency range of approximately 5 to 30 kHz and to be suitable, for example, for acoustic monitoring of large components in power stations. For this purpose, the actual magnetostrictive core (1, 2) is arranged in a magnetic screen (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d) and in an outer protective housing (7a, 7b, 7c, 7d). A diamagnetic intermediate plate (5) separates the magnetostrictive core (1, 2), magnetically from the screen (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d). The intermediate plate (5), screen base (6a) and protective housing base (7a), are soldered to one another and to the magnetostrictive core (1, 2) in a planar fashion.
