A four-wheel drive arrangement for vehicles, especially motor vehicles, is described, which has a hydraulically controllable multi-plate friction clutch (1) arranged in the drive train to the rear axle. In order to achieve the lowest possible design cost without the need to modify the manual shift transmission housing or the axle transmission housing it is proposed that the multi-plate friction clutch be incorporated into the drive shaft (2, 3) leading to the rear axle and be arranged in a chamber, tightly sealed off from the outside and rotating with the drive shaft, this chamber being defined by a clutch housing (14) held on a flange (10) of the drive shaft (3). <IMAGE>
