PURPOSE:To remove irritation and uneasiness by displaying the number of remaining data blocks when the tape is read and recorded. CONSTITUTION:When the data recorded by the format are read by a cassette tape recording reproducing device 27, a data block number N is read from a data number block NH, and each time one data block D is read after that, the block is subtracted from the read data block number one by one, and the remaining data block number is displayed. After that, until the data block number N goes to be zero, the same action is repeated. Even when the data are written to a cassette tape recording reproducing device 27, in the same manner, the remaining data block number N is displayed.
