PURPOSE:To obtain a single-stepped steel plate of which the flat side is flat and the shape of the stepped part is good by rolling a double-stepped thick steel plate having steps on both sides by a rolling mill, sandwiching the double- stepped thick steel plate between a single-stepped thick steel plate for working and flat steel plate for working and subjecting the thick steel late to rerolling. CONSTITUTION:The double-stepped steel plate 1 provided with the steps 2, 3 on both sides is produced by the rolling mill. The double-stepped steel plate is then sandwiched between the single-stepped thick steel plate 4 for working which is preliminarily produced and the flat steel plate 1 for working and three sheets are superposed and rolled by the rolling mill 6. The single-stepped thick steel plate 7 is obtd. when the steel plates 4, 5 are removed. The desired step 8 is preliminarily formed to the steel plate 4 by madrining.
