PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of equipment and production, by conducting the wet ash removal of a low-quality coal powder obtained by dry ash removal with electric separation and wet pulverizing a mixture of a high-quality coal powder containing ash in a low amount obtained by each of the dry ash removal and wet ash removal with the water used in the wet ash removal. CONSTITUTION:A low-quality coal powder containing ash in a large amount is obtained by dry ash removal with electrostatic separation and subjected to wet ash removal. The high-quality coal powder which has been separated in the wet ash removal is taken out together with the water used in the wet ash removal and is incorporated with the high-quality coal powder which has been separated in the dry ash removal. The mixture is wet pulverized to obtain a coal-water slurry. The present process enables a remarkable reduction in water required for wet ash removal, which in turn completely eliminates the need for waste water treatment.
