PURPOSE:To give editing function by extracting a picture for register written in a sheet buffer and writing this picture in a designated register picture insertion area in the sheet buffer and synthesizing a picture for read and the picture for register in the sheet buffer. CONSTITUTION:Picture information on a sheet is converted to an electric signal by a photoelectric converting part 1 and is supplied to an A/D converting part 3 through an amplifier 2. The converted digital signal is converted to a binary coding signal by a binarizing coding circuit 4 and is stored in a sheet buffer 5. Picture data is written in the buffer 5 by address designation of an X- direction counter 6 and a Y-direction counter 7. A register picture memory 9 is provided and the picture for register is extracted from picture information written in the buffer 5 and is stored in this memory 9. A recognizing part 10 recognizes characters in a designated area of the buffer 5 and a corresponding register picture is read out and is written in the designated register insertion area of the buffer 5. Thus, edited pictures are outputted to an external device 11.
