PURPOSE:To improve the operability by returning an erroneous part to an input character string when an erroneous Kana(Japanese syllabary)-Kani (Chinese character) converting result is obtained due to an error of sectioning position and changing the section and applying reconversion. CONSTITUTION:A character code string inputted from an input section 1 is subject to Kana conversion in an input Kana buffer 3, and the Kana character string is stored therein. If the operator finds out the result of inadequate conversion, the conversion cancellation of the part is inputted. Then the part commanded of cancellation is returned to the input character string before Kana/Kanji conversion. A separator is placed to the end of the character string, the result of conversion of a processing block subject to correction and command is displayed inversely and the information that the character section is correction object is added. Then a cursor is moved to the head of the next block and the step is restored to the initial step. Moreover, when further correction is required, the conversion cancellation is inputted again and the said operations are repeated to obtain the correct conversion result.
