PURPOSE:To enable random setting of injection timing by forming an oblique groove communicatable with a lubrication chamber and a hole communicatable with said oblique groove respectively in the inner and outer face of a rotatable sleeve arranged at the lower section of plunger barrel in a jerk-type fuel injection pump. CONSTITUTION:Upon lifting of plunger 03 through a cam synchronously rotatable with the crank shaft, an oil supply/discharge hole 05 is choked and the lower edge of an oil path 106 in the plunger will choke the upper edge of an oblique groove 102 in a rotary sleeve 101 thereby the fuel in the plunger chamber 15 will push open a delivery valve 08 to be delivered through an ejection hole. Upon rotation of the rotary sleeve 101 through motion of a timing rack 108, the oil path 106 and the oblique groove 102 are connected to disable delivery thereby the plunger 03 will further lift to start delivery when the upper edge of the oblique groove 102 is closed by the lower edge of the oil path 106. Consequently, the injection timing can be set freely.
