PURPOSE:To prepare a tape for dubbing of proper length by storing time information corresponding to starting position of each program of selected music and position of termination of final program in a memory, and calculating and displaying the total time for reproduction. CONSTITUTION:Time information corresponding to a tape position is recorded in a part of recording tracks 12 of a tape 1. This is read by a time information reading device 7 through a head 2 and delivered to a controlling device 8. The time information corresponding to a starting position of each program and a final program position is stored beforehand in a memory 9. When the order of reproduction of programs is inputted from a selected music inputting device 10 to the controlling device 8, the time for reproduction is determined from the difference between the time information corresponding to the starting position of the program and the time information of the position of termination or the starting position of the next program referring to the memory 9, and the total time for playing programs of selected music is calculated by summing up them, and displayed in a tie display device 11.
