PURPOSE:To decide a normal end or an abnormal end of data by checking the states of both a magnetic tape and a microfilm stored in a memory. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape reader decides the end of a magnetic tape and stops the tape feed when it detects an EOD on the tape. The presence or absence of the continuance of data read by a microfilm reader and a magnetic tape reader is recorded in a memory area designated by a program for decision of a normal end or an abnormal end of the tape. Thus an end flag is set at 'O' every time a piece of data is read, and the next reading job is carried out. The program decides the normal end of the tape when the end flags are set up with both microfilm and magnetic tape readers. While the abnormal end of the tape is decided when the end flag is set up only with a microfilm reader.
