A time-companding signal processor and a method for time companding of a signal

In a time-companding signal processor (10), a signal from a signal-generating source (16) is fed into a signal input (12) and switched at a first clock frequency defined by a first clock generator (22) by a first parallel switch array (18) comprising a multiplicity of individual first switches (19). By means of this parallel connection, the input signal fed in from the signal-generating source (16) is segmented and the signal segments fed in by the individual first switches (19) are held in storage devices or capacitor stores (26). A second parallel switch array (20) comprising a multiplicity of individual switches, the number being identical to the number of switches of the first switch array (18) and furthermore to the number of capacitor stores (26), is addressed with a second clock frequency defined by a second clock generator (24). The individual switches of the first and second switch arrays (18, 20) are addressed in order to prevent simultaneous addressing of any corresponding pair of switches of the parallel switch arrays. The outputs of the individual second switches of the second parallel switch array (20) are connected to an output terminal (14) via which a signal-holding or low-pass capacitor (28) is disposed. <IMAGE>
