PURPOSE:To prevent a conveyor from being damaged by configurating a device in such a way that an upper frame of a shape retaining frame located within the distance, in which the conveyor moves by force of inertia, is made to be a closing type gate, and a load cell is provided to detect an abnormal loading so as to suspend the conveyor operation and to outstretch the upper frame. CONSTITUTION:When a great block of materials fed to a cylindrical belt 1 from a chute 2, a shape retaining roller 4 does not permit the material to pass through the normal cross section exerting an abnormal side force on a detecting shape retaining roller 4a. This causes a load cell 11 to be activated through a support arm 12 which supports the shape retaining roller 4a allowing the conveyor 1 to be suspended. Simultaneously, an electromagnet 8 is deenergized releasing the blocking force of a top split surface. Accordingly, an upper frame 3b is outstretched by a spring 9 transforming the conveyor 1 into a through in a U shape. After the great block of materials has been cleared away, the conveyor is started again. This configuration prevents the conveyor from being damaged and suffering an accident.
