PURPOSE:To improve the data integrity and to shorten the access time by holding data by the 1st and 2nd caches until the writing is through to a low- order device. CONSTITUTION:The 1st cache control mechanism 2 issues a data writing request 12 to the 2nd cache control mechanism 4 with a data writing request 11 given from an high-order device 1 and at the same time stores data in the 1st cache 3. The mechanism 4 stores the data 14 into the 2nd cache 5 and gives the 1st end report 15 to the mechanism 2. The mechanism 2 gives an end report 16 to the device 1. The mechanism 4 writes data to a low-order device 17 and gives the 2nd end report 18. Then the mechanism 2 sets a data area 19 stored in the cache 3 under a disuse enable state.
