PURPOSE:To change over an on-line business and a local business by a key operation by providing a memory in a terminal consisting of a display device, a data input device and a communication device and a program-operating the memory device. CONSTITUTION:When closing a power source, an on-line program and an off-line program written in an auxiliary memory device 15 is loaded in a main memory circuit 14. When the on-line is selected by an on-line and off-line change-over key of an input device 20, a latch 19 is set to the on-line and a control circuit 13 delivers a control to the on-line program loaded on the main memory circuit 14 through a priority circuit 17 and a terminal operates as an on-line terminal. When the off-line is selected by the on-line and off-line change-over key, the terminal performs the off-line business. During performing the off-line business, when receiving a data from a host, the off line program is interrupted by the priority control circuit 17 and the control circuit 13, the received data from the host is fetched to the main memory circuit and it is completed, then the operation is returned to the off-line.
