The head part has a face mask (10) with a breathing-air connection and a mask window (18). An outer cover (30) with a cover window (32) incorporated therein is constructed to be separate from the face mask (10). The cover (30) and the face mask (10) can be connected to one another releasably for a carrying-along movement, the windows (18, 32) becoming congruent with one another. A quick-acting connection is proposed, for example in the form of a belt connection or a screw-on or snap-on connection which engages on the mask sealing frame (20). The space (40) between the windows (18, 32) is sealed off (38) in the coupled state. <IMAGE>
