A rotary engine comprises a casing, a twin rotor assembly mounted for rotation in the casing and having two co-axial spindles projecting from the casing, a gear drive, and one output shaft, the gear drive having two elliptical gear trains each arranged to operatively connect a respective spindle to the output shaft.
